Employing a 14.2mm beryllium-coated diaphragm, the EM5 delivers a widely extended, highly textured, rich bass. The lightweight and rigid nature of the beryllium aid detailed and extended treble. The EM5 uses a 14.2mm beryllium-plated diaphragm dynamic driver specially chosen for its light and thin but also extremely rigid properties, allowing for robust bass and well-extended treble. How is the overall fit of FiiO EM5? The FiiO EM5 comes with an in-ear design which gives a secure fit. Also the lightweight design of EM5 makes them comfortable to use for long hours. What about the BASS performance of the FiiO EM5? Open earbuds are born naturally with a wide soundstage, yet with the shortcoming of bass signals easily exposed. And how to change the earphone plug? The EM5 is equipped with a 4-strand 120-core high-purity pure silver cable. Compared with monocrystalline silver-plated copper cable, the pure silver one has better conductivity, lower impedance, relatively warm mid-frequencies, and richer high-frequency details. The cable is integrated with the earphone units so that it cannot be replaced. But it comes with a balanced 2.5mm and 4.4mm, and a single-ended 3.5mm plug which is optional based on one’s needs.
