The original STAX SR-Lamda series was introduced over 36 years ago. The SR-L500MK2 has taken the excellent sound of the original series and combined it with a newly designed enclosure. The STAX SR-L500MK2 is an advanced Earspeaker that features tough stainless fixed electrodes and a hand-selected thin-film diaphragm. Expect the perfect balance of delicate treble, soothing mids and deep bass. DESIGNED FOR LONG LISTENING SESSIONS The SR-L500MK2 has been designed keeping comfort and long listening sessions in mind. The headband (ARC) has a 10-click slider mechanism that allows you to adjust the head pad’s height. Once adjusted, the slider ensures that it stays put doing away with the need of constantly readjusting the height. The plush handcrafted earpads are made of high-quality synthetic leather that adds to the comfort as well as the sound performance. CABLES THAT ARE DESIGNED FOR PERFECTION The detachable cable uses HiFC™ (High-Performance Pure Copper) wires developed by Hitachi. These wires have the same sonic characteristics as the SR-009 and SR-L500’s 6N high-purity 99.99999% copper wires. The cable is designed in a wide, flat format to reduce the capacitance between each wire and drive the SR-L500MK2 in a more effective manner. It delivers a clear, transparent and balanced sound with delicate highs, soothing mids and deep bass. Can I use the STAX – SR-L500MK2 with my smartphone? Nope, you can’t. The STAX – SR-L500MK2 has an impedance of 145K Ohms. Headphones with higher impedance need more power to run and your smartphone won’t be able to generate that. You will need an amp for this. The STAX – SR-L500MK2 comes with OFC parallel 6-strand cables. Can I use the STAX – SR-L500MK2 for long hours? The STAX – SR-L500MK2 is made of lightweight durable materials that allows you to use them for long hours without experiencing fatigue. The soft leather headband and over-ear design with memory foam earpads also helps in the same. What do “Impedance” and “Ohms” mean? Impedance is the so-called alternating-current resistance that headphones have under specific standard conditions. On devices with low output impedance, headphones are the louder, the lower their impedance is. In principle, we recommend that you choose headphones with low impedance for use on devices that are operated by battery/rechargeable battery (i.e. most portable devices such as smartphones, tablet computers but also notebooks). You can distinguish between high and low impedance. Usually, the gradations 18 Ω, 32 Ω, and 80 Ω are used in the low range. In the high range, 250 Ω are common. If you want to get the most out of your system (and it has the power to do so), choose a model with 600 Ω.
